FAQ

What are Claude mods?

Claude mods (officially "mods" in Claude Code) are plugins whose code runs inside Claude Code as JavaScript or TypeScript functions. They can watch or change tool calls, prompts and turns, add commands, and draw panes or bands in the interface.

How do I install a Claude Code mod?

Mods install like any plugin: /plugin install name@marketplace inside Claude Code, or claude plugin install name@marketplace from your shell. To try one from a folder for a single session, run claude --plugin-dir ./path-to-mod.

Do I need to set CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS?

No. That variable was for early access. Since Claude Code v2.1.287 mods are on by default and the variable is ignored.

Are the mods on this site safe?

A mod runs with your permissions and is not sandboxed. We link to each author's own repository and list what each mod needs, but we have not installed or tested community mods. Read the code and run claude plugin validate before installing.

24 of 77 mods have a screenshot or demo from their author. Images belong to their authors and link to the original projects. Last checked 2026-10-02.
